Freedom and loneliness

Freedom. Throughout history the ultimate goal of mankind has always been freedom. Worshiped like a god. Maybe the contemporary god. Everyone believes that being free is the ultimate goal, the target. But what does freedom really mean? Few have ever questioned themselves.
Most probably, freedom is defined as choosing, living in your own way, no one over your head telling you what to do or don't. Acting free. It sounds like a great experience. Ultimate. Maybe utopic. But how can you be free when you react with other people emotionally? What about feelings? What about emotions? When you care about other people then you care about their opinions. About their opinion on "freedom"? Isn't this like setting a frame on your space of act? Choices are now not free. You can't be free if you care about what others think for your act. More, if you care about them. But just caring about their opinion is enough to take your freedom away. Jean Paul Sartre in his play "No Exit" said, "Hell is other people", because everyone cares about other people's opinions. Their judgment is crucial.
You can't really be free when other people are around. But, you can't live when no people are around. So, there is a conflict. Freedom and loneliness. One can be alone, with no one close to him, acting free, being a "Free creature". But won't this lead him to loneliness? Won't this make him unhappy? Maybe our ultimate goal is loneliness. Personal spaces. Personal worlds. Freedom. One universe per creature. People apart are people free. People together? What is this? Is it mankind free? Free from what? It is a matter of acting as a unity or as a person. It is a matter of living as a unity or a person. Love may be the answer, but is it possible?
