The Meteors

I just got registered to itunes store, it looks great. I can find everything, it has tones of music, even the most undergorund stuff. My first buy was the psychobilly album by The Meteors. It rules! I was into rockabilly, surf and this kind of stuff for some time now, but was never exposed to psychobilly. I am a bit overwhelmed right now, their music is punky, rebellious, brutal and FUN! I would say rocabilized motorhead :P They are deffinately going to be one of my favorite bands, I can feel it.

People

Lately I am kind of considering myself as anti-humanitarian. Think of it a bit. It is really weird that we exist. A self-aware, intelligent and emotional self-loving creature that is mortal. A whole seperate existence with an expiration date. WTF? You get born, you go to school... you get a job.... you get old.... and you die. All your existence most probably goes to the trash. Our society kind of turns its back towards death, everyone acts like they are going to live forever. On the other hand we should all kill our selves if we get aware of the vanity of life itself. So what is better? Live a life ignoring death, trying to be happy and have a nice time (for no deeper reason, just because it is the goal of your existence - to feel the better you can), or to face death and live a vane and sorrowful life. Is this weird or what? Appart from this, humanity tends to make too much noise for its league. I mean we are nothing, NOTHING. And we fight, we destroy, we polute, we do a thousand of shitty things just because we try to achieve happiness. Out of last for materials that will give us joy. We are like happy shit bouncing all over trying to get enjoyment, but on the process we cover everything with shit, without even considering that we could be flashed down the toilet at anytime. The hell with us, I vote: Someone kill us all, we are shit anyway.

MACKBOOK... 2.16 WHITE a laptop AGAIN

I got a new laptop this week and after a lot of days of usage I can say that it is the best computer I have ever owned for sure. And maybe one of the best buys I ever did. My previous laptop, a Greek custom made laptop from a big store here, only had 3 good months of life. It is a very sad story, it was going back and forth to the store and me, each time I got it something else would die, first it was the motherboard, they said I was unlucky(!). The second time the screen, the third time the hard disk, the fourth time they told me it had no problem and when I got it it wouldn't even boot! Anyway, I just lost 1600 EUROS. This time it is nothing like this, this laptop looks solid steady, I have a feeling that it won't die ever! At first I was a little afraid of its small screen since I thought it would make my life difficult when programming. But I can say that it is really good. I have had no problem getting tired. It is a bit annoying sometimes I agree, but nothing I can't live with. Also the glare is in low levels. Now what about the system itself? IT IS FAST AS HELL. Real sleak and I can have a real unix console, I can install linux software, use gcc and everything I want. It is the best of both worlds inside a creamy sleak case that I would even lick. Something like a woman, all sweet and beautiful outside but a real beast inside. I love it!
At first I was wondering if I should get the pro instead, but appart from the screen and graphix it doesn't have anything more that I couldn't live without. Also a friend that has a macbook pro liked it a lot and wants one too, what do you think about that? Why waste all that much money if you are not going to ever use it for graphics? It has already all the power you want. Keep the extra money for applecare, a good bug, an airport maybe? I've read that you can even connect usb hard drives to that one!

xRuby

Ruby is a great programming language, very easy to learn and extremely powerful. I've been using it the last three months and I can say that I tend to forget Java. I was always a big fun of Sun's OO language and thought of it as irreplaceable. But this period I am very close to reconsider. The only thing that was holding me back was that it is a not bytecode interpreted language (although I would be very happy to sacrifice running time for the extreme ease ruby can offer) OK... at least for some things, I would never build the core of a complex system in ruby not even Java, it is ridiculous. Anyway, as I was browsing today I've seen a project going on called xRuby. To my surprise I realized that some guys are building a ruby to java bytecode compiler, this is awesome! From what I've read they claim faster speeds than the ruby interpreter and it also seems that they can compile the ruby tests. I need to try this, I am going to give it a try when I find some time. This is a great project and I wish it continues, you can check it out at http://xruby.blogspot.com/
